Two Months Since Sworn In
It has been about two months (70 days to be exact), days since I have been sworn into my position. Since its been enough time to get my feet wet, I figured I would do a little check in to give my overall thoughts on things so far.
First, when it came to the onboarding process the city did, it was relatively straight forward. I got to meet all the department heads, speak to them about what they do, and got their information in case I needed to contact them. This was a good start, as now if I have a question I know who to contact. I was always observing meetings by this point, so there is not much more that I think could have been done while I was a "Councilmember-Elect" to learn about the role and what I would be getting into.
Next, when it comes to the official meetings, they are relatively straight forward as well. There are some topics that come up now and again that are continuations of past discussions from before I was sworn in, but its easy to get caught up and get the most up to date information. On the community side of things, I feel I am meeting the expectations I set forth when I was campaigning. Each month (although its only been two), I've had coffee with constituents, heard their concerns, and prioritized following up on those concerns.
All and all, things seems to be going good on my end, and while there is always learning to be done, I feel I have risen to the challenge and am doing all I can and then some in representing Ward 6 and their interests. Of course, that is just my opinions, and regardless of how you feel, please reach out and tell me how I'm doing. I always look forward to reading emails from my neighbors and our community.
