From Campaign Website to a Blog

Since the election in February, I have had a checklist of things I wanted to get done before I am sworn in on July 7th. Some of them were personal, like taking a vacation while I still had time, and others were directly related to future City Council work. Meet people in the community, talk with organizations and groups who wanted to meet with me, etc. Originally, one of the first things I wanted to take care of was convert my campaign website, KyleForNorman.com into a blogging website. However, for a few reasons, it ended up being one of the last things on my checklist, but with this post going up, I can officially say the new blog "The East Side" is now live.
I listed the reasons on the homepage as to why I made a change in this website, but to sum it up, I believe that one of the more important things for Elected Officials to be is transparent about their actions. While I will also continue to make videos on my YouTube (@KyleForNorman) and posts on Facebook (Councilmember-Elect Kyle Steele), I want to also make posts on here for those who don't want to deal with the hassle of social media. This is also to serve as a historical record. If someone is new to local politics, or wants to see specifically what I have been doing as their representative the past few months, they can get the whole history from this one source. At the end of the day, it doesn't take long to type a few paragraphs into a post like this one, especially if I am making similar posts on other websites.
If you are reading this and like the idea of this kind of thing, let me know. Feedback is always important, good and bad. If you really like the idea of this and want to support this website and what it stands for, I am putting a donation link to my campaign account below. Thank you for your time, and I hope you check back here soon.
