First Steps

Last night I was officially sworn in for Norman City Council - Ward 6. Waiting up on the dais for me was paperwork to sign, business cards, name badge, budget books, city iPad/phone, and a book titled '101 Things I learned in Urban Design School' called Matthew Frederick and Vikas Mehta.

The paperwork was easy, signed and dropped off a little before making this post. I now have a small stack of business cards I should probably always carry around, and a set of budget books for the fiscal year I can reference as needed. The book will be something to read during downtime or at night before bed. The iPad and phone are a slightly different story...

When I got the iPad and phone I logged into them, but the email was not setup the way it should have been. Today I dropped them off with IT and should be able to get them today. Hiccups are expected, and as someone in the IT sector these things happen. Once I know the phone and iPad are setup I'll be able to configure those hopefully tonight and then be able to use them as needed to respond to emails, texts, and calls as required. If there is a backlog of emails, especially with the recent weather, I'll go through those as well to make sure they are resolved. I don't know how far back I'll go, but we will start with a week and go from there.

The other steps I plan on taking immediate are updating various social media pages. My YouTube and Facebook need minor changes in the description, and I have to make a short video about ways to keep up with what I am doing. Hopefully shouldn't take that long. Once that is done, then the real work can begin...
